20 Ways to Start Practicing Self-Care

International Self Care Day is celebrated annually on July 24th.  We wanted to give everyone a head start and make you aware of how important it is to practice “self-care.” When life gets busy, it is easy to forget to take care of ourselves. Although you should never feel guilty about taking time for yourself; It is not selfish to prioritize your health. Why is it important? Self-care encourages you to maintain a healthy relationship with yourself so that you can transmit the good feeling to others.

Research has shown that practicing self-care can reduce or eliminate anxiety and depression, reduce stress, improve concentration, reduce anger, improve energy, and increase happiness. Even a tiny change impact your health in positive ways.

Maybe you are feeling exhausted, uninspired, or unwell? Practicing self-care isn’t always easy; most of us are always crazy busy, have stressful jobs, or have a family to care for. Here are some signs of feeling burnt out:

  1. Getting headaches frequently
  2. Having trouble sleeping
  3. Suffering from anxiety
  4. Irritable
  5. Unexplained exhaustion
  6. Feeling negative or overly critical

  15. Take a bubble bath,
  16. Have lunch in a park.
  17. Spend one on one time with your pet.
  18. Exercise daily.
  19. Pay it forward.
  20. Be happy.
