The Story Behind Benefab

October 09, 2016 3 min read

Have you ever wondered WHY a company launches? Many times, it is because the product or service solves a problem or alleviates a challenge. The best of companies are build on a strong passion where the service or product is born from that passion. That is how Benefab was born. We invite you to take a moment and read our story to understand our passion for people and horses..... I’m Kat Chrysostom, the founder and owner of BeneFab. I’m the chief designer of every product in the BeneFab line. My mission is to take great ideas and create products that make a difference in the lives and health of both horses and people. As a horse person and rider since childhood, in 2011, I suffered a riding injury that left me temporarily paralyzed with a triple fracture of the C-2 vertebrae. I was told that I would never ride again. After three long months in a halo traction device, I found myself left with four excruciatingly painful and slow healing holes in my skull. Doctors recommended far-infrared light therapy. Over time, the pain and swelling were reduced, and my migraines diminished. I became fascinated by the therapeutic impact of infused fabrics and learned why electromagnetism is a natural healing remedy and how it helps joint and muscle stiffness, edema and circulatory disorders, both in the human body and in horses. During my recovery, I studied the emerging equine industry in the Far East and attended the Shanghai HOFRA equine trade show with hopes of expanding a growing European equine import and export business that had been started before my accident. While at the show, I met a Taiwanese equestrian who fabricated technical materials that incorporate therapeutic properties including ceramics. Soon after, I began designing and testing the first products in the BeneFab line. I work with veterinarians and professional riders across the U.S. to educate people about the performance benefit and healing properties of ceramic infused fabrics. We are based in the horse capital of the world – Ocala, FL where I ride nearly every day. I am an active member of Toastmasters International and speak frequently at both equine and business events around the country, sharing my experience with others. This video shares a little more about how I started Benefab. Why Benefab? With fall now upon us, our Therapeutic Blanket is pretty amazing. The Benefab blanket helps harmonize bodily functions safely and naturallystimulating recovery time, promoting blood circulation, increasing oxygen flow, and ultimately reducing pain and stiffness. Elizabeth D shared this testimonial with us recently, "I suffer from a chronic lower back injury and for work, I have to sit at in a desk chair everyday. This became very aggravating after about 3 months of working there and I started experiencing more extreme pain in my lower back so I decided to try out the blanket. Now I drape it over my desk chair and sit on it every day. I have seen so much improvement it is really unbelievable! Now I have no pain in my lower back, it does not bother me to sit in my chair all day and I even feel as if it has helped me with other daily activities that aggravated it before. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!"

The sacroiliac joint is a location where the horses back and pelvis meet. It transfers the action of his hind legs to his back, translating the push into forward motion.  The sacroiliac joints are stabilized by strong ligaments that join the iliac bones to the sacrum and to the backbone.
