Best Places to Visit in the Fall
Did you know that fall is one of the best times a year for travel? Cooler weather makes it an ideal time to take a road trip to enjoy the beautiful fall foliage. Fall means avoiding summer crowds and for travelers on a budget, fall is one of the cheapest times of year to travel. Also, because its not peak season, you won’t see any unusual spikes in hotel or airline costs until the holidays approach.

Here is a list of a few places:

Manchester, Vermont Drive the Equinox Skyline to the top elevation on 3,848 feet for spectacular views of the surrounding Green Mountains. Vermont is famous for its stunning fall foliage, which takes off in mid- to- late September, but really hits its peak colors in October. You can also go apple picking at Mad Tom Orchard. Taos, New Mexico Taos in the Fall is among one of the most beautiful sights you can find in New Mexico. The Carson National Forest is home to the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway, a loop of over 80 miles focused around the highest peak in New Mexico which starts and ends in Taos. Yellowstone National Park Fall arrives early (late August) in Yellowstone and the season is relatively short. However, many of the parks iconic animals tend to be more visible in the fall, when cooler temperature prompt them to move to lower elevations. The park’s landscape has golden aspens, yellow grasses, and red-leafed shrubs. Asheville, North Carolina Asheville has one of the longest and most vibrant fall color seasons in the nation. Autumn is the perfect time to take a leisurely drive along the famed Blue Ridge Parkway, which becomes even more magical with the changing colors. The 469-mile scenic road offers stunning vistas of split-rail fences, old farmsteads, and mountain meadows. Or you could visit the famous Biltmore, Americas largest home. Biltmore’s fields, gardens, and vineyards also take the center stage in the fall with harvest menus at the estate’s restaurants. Bar Harbor, Maine Bar Harbor is frequently found among lists of the best places in the U.S. for fall foliage, with the especially jaw-dropping hues of autumn found along the 40-mile stretch of the Acadia Byway, where visitors can enjoy magnificent wild coastlines along with an array of colors in Acadia National Park. On Mount Desert Island. Pigeon Forge, Tennessee To get a glimpse of the golden leaves along the Great Smoky Mountains, time your trip from October to the beginning of November. And if you're looking for fall colors in their full glory, a visit to Cades Cove is in order. Estates Park, Colorado This cozy mountain town is home to Rocky Mountain National Park. Leaves change gradually from late August until October, depending on their elevation. The town of Estes Park highlights the changing of the season with its annual Autumn Gold Festival. Sample some tasty bratwursts, sip on some local brews and listen to live music during this colorful event. September 22nd – 23rd.
