Fibromyalgia

Mar 27, 2020
Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder that causes muscle pain and fatigue. Symptoms resemble those of arthritis, but fibromyalgia affects the soft tissue, not the joints. The exact cause is unclear but, may be caused by a problem in the brain with nerves and pain signals. The brain misunderstands everyday pain and other sensory experiences making the person more sensitive to pressure, temperature, bright lights, and noise. Fibromyalgia can develop on its own, but tends to run in families, and some scientists think that a gene or genes could make you more likely to develop this condition. Women tend to get it more, or if you have another painful disease such as arthritis or an infection.

Common symptoms:

  1. Trouble sleeping
  2. Morning stiffness
  3. Headaches
  4. Numbness in hands and feet
  5. Problems with your memory
  6. Pain in muscles or bones
  7. Restless legs
  8. Sensitivity to cold or heat
  9. Jaw pain
Fibromyalgia can be hard to diagnose. It sometimes takes visits to several different health care providers to get a diagnosis. One problem is that there isn't a specific test for it, and the main symptoms, pain and fatigue, are common in many other conditions. Health care providers must rule out other causes of the symptoms before making a diagnosis of fibromyalgia. Holistic Treatment Options:
  1. An active exercise plan
  2. Acupuncture
  3. Massage
  4. Chiropractic care
  5. Physical Therapy
  6. Having a good diet
We can help too! We have our Therapeutic Body Wrap that would be a great addition to a treatment plan. The Body Wrap would offer some assistance with increasing mobility, lessening pain, and relaxing muscles. The Benefab ® fabric is infused with a powder blend comprised of 30 lead-free minerals that emit therapeutic waves known as FAR-infrared rays which penetrate deep to provide soothing relief for pain and healing. Which has a versatile design that can be worn as an overcoat or shawl and is comfortable enough to wear while resting or during activity. There is no definite cure for Fibromyalgia, but symptoms can improve significantly as long as patients follow and healthy treatment plan.
