January is Walk Your Dog Month

Dec 31, 2020
January is Walk Your Dog Month

Is the cold, frigid winter making it hard for you to get out and walk your dog? January is Walk Your Dog Month and what better way to kick start you and your dog’s New Year’s Resolutions by getting out in the great outdoors and getting active and healthy. The number of pets with clinical obesity continues to rise.  Obesity results in more secondary conditions such as arthritis, high blood pressure, kidney disease, and certain forms of cancer. Pets that are obese also have a shorter life expectancy.

Daily walks promote healthy digestive, cardiovascular, and musculoskeletal systems. Also, reduces blood pressure, builds strong, lean muscles, helps joints from becoming stiff and sore and reduces the risk of arthritis. Walk Your Dog Month is a wonderful chance to set yourself some small goals to get out walking with your dog and hopefully change your habits long term to the benefit of you both. It is a win-win!

10 Benefits:

  1. It gets both of you moving.
  2. A wonderful bonding experience between pet and owner.
  3. Mental stimulation and health for both you and your dog.
  4. A happier and healthier dog.
  5. Getting fresh air.
  6. Disconnect for a moment.
  7. Explore new neighborhoods.
  8. Improves socialization.
  9. Helps with weight control.
  10. Improves sleep for both pet and owner.

We know our beloved fur babies enjoy spending time with us, allowing them 30 minutes of enjoyment and exercise each day is the least we can do to keep them healthy and at their best. So, are you ready to kick off “Walk Your Dog Month”? Then, bundle up and get moving today. Your pup will thank you later!
