National Small Business Week

May 01, 2020 2 min read

This year National Small Business Week is taking place from May 3rd – 9th 2020. This week the nation celebrates National Small Business Week which recognizes the important contributions of Americas entrepreneurs and small business owners. Small businesses fuel the backbone of our economy. Did you know that more than half of Americans either own or work for a small business? They create about two out of every three new jobs in the U.S each year. Local business is essential for our economy. They bring growth and innovation to our neighborhoods. Every year since 1963, the president of the United States has proclaimed National Small Business Week to recognize the contributions of small businesses to the economic well-being of America. Unfortunately, a lot of events are being canceled and postponed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Even if we cannot travel to a national event or local events near you, you can still get involved virtually by watching live or recorded events online, shopping at a local small business or participating in things on social media. A lot of local business are offering online shopping and curbside pick during this time, so there are still ways to support. Most are feeling a financial strain right now and are worried about the future. If you need to buy something, try your local store first.

Ways to Support:

  1. Buy gift cards from your favorite places, you know you will want to go later.
  2. Tip service industry workers extra. If you can afford it, make someone’s day with a massive tip.
  3. Many restaurants are offering curbside pickup and delivery. Get your favorite dish!
  4. Give your favorite small businesses shoutouts on your social media.
  5. Some salons are offering DIY kits and virtual consultations.
  6. Leave positive reviews or personal testimonials on the company’s website.
  7. Schedule a service for later use.
If you are able to, remember to choose small businesses as often as possible. Did you know here at Benefab we offer gift cards? They are redeemable online at any time. Buy online gift cards and email them to your animal loving friends for a small pick-me-up. It will be a little something someone will look forward to using! https://benefabproducts.com/product/gift-card/
