5 Ways to Spoil your Dog

Aug 04, 2022
5 Ways to Spoil your Dog

We are calling all dog lovers looking to take the extra step and spoil their dogs this summer! Your best friend deserves all the love and affection we can give them! Here are some great ways to spoil your dog this summer.

Your Time

We don’t mean to, but sometimes we take our dogs for granted. It happens during a crazy week at work, over-scheduling, or something else. Spoiling them with toys and treats is appreciated, but sometimes all your four-legged friend wants is your time. Even if you have a busy schedule, you should still try to spend a little quality time with your pup each week. Plan regular walks and play outside. This routine is also good for their long-term health.

Keep them active and engaged with their activities, too. If you have a very active pup, try getting a long leash and taking them to the park for fetch, or just run and play. If you have a lower-energy dog, make time for snuggles and belly rubs.

Water Play Area:

With summer heating up, it’s often too hot for dogs to stay outside and play. Spoil your pup with a water splash pad or kiddie pool. Make sure to fill it with fresh water regularly and throw their favorite toys out for them to play with. If you don’t have a lot of room in the backyard, or your dog doesn't like water, wet a towel with cold water and wrap your dog in it while they are outside to keep them cool. Another fun way to get your dog engaged and cooled down is to freeze a bowl of water with their toys. They lick and chew the ice away until they get their toys out.

Furbo or Camera Monitoring System

If you are away from home more than you’d like, consider investing in a camera monitoring system with a treat dispenser. Many pet monitors allow you to give your dog treats and speak to them while you are out of the house.

Toy and Treat Boxes

There are many dog treat/toy box subscriptions available for pet owners. These subscriptions can be customized for the type of toys your dog likes and can come as often as you’d like. If you like the idea but don't want to do a delivery or membership, you can always create these little gift boxes by stopping into your local store and picking up all of your pet’s favorites.

Safety First

If you are one of the thousands of pet owners traveling with their pets, it might be time to spoil your dog with a car harness or seat. These keep your dog safer during a car accident. These can provide additional support and comfort if your dog gets nervous during car travel. For dogs with high travel anxiety, Comfort and Care Shirts provide supportive compression. These are great options for longer trips as the fabric is breathable and won’t cause your dog to overheat.

Have fun spoiling your fur babies this summer! Remember, a dog may only be a part of your life for a short time, but you are their whole life. Make that life as wonderful as you can.
